George Henderson has no design degree and only his High School Certificate to dance on when
squeegeed for his formal education.
Henderson, 24, born wild and raised free on the Gold Coast, has scratched his way into the design
world first as design assistant and now as the creative director for the Australian arm of global
eyewear and clothing company, VonZipper.
This If you don't got the paper you had better get busy teaching yourself approach, has seen Henderson
try his grubby paws at photographing campaigns, stying fashion shoots and directing short films.
And the kid’s come up trumps.
His role at VonZipper has afforded him travel the world over on research trips. Citing influences from both
the past and the future, it’s still these trips – shooting photos and making new friends – that supply
Henderson with the richest licks of motivation.
Henderson has worked with a number of colourful characters over the years, most notably fellow
Gold Coast artist and photographer Claudio Kirac, Sydney’s rudeboys Ben Sullivan and Kane Skennar
and recently Mark Hunter thecobrasnake.com.
